Takedowns & Controls
  • Hip Throw Takedown

    Episode 1

    • Secure strong double grip
    • Rotate into the threat
    • Lower body, thrusting hip outwards and rotate
    • Drive threat to the ground
    • Create space or continue to attack
    • Scan for next threat

    NB: Always train safely and within your ability

  • Rear Rugby Takedown

    Episode 2

    • Stay low and quietly approach target
    • Drive shoulder into targets lower back pushing them forwards
    • Pull each of targets towards you just below knees
    • Keep your legs closed/narrow
    • Create space or continue to attack
    • Scan for next threat

  • Front Rugby Takedown

    Episode 3

    • Stay low
    • Drive shoulder into targets lower stomach pushing them backwards
    • Pull each of targets towards you at/just below knees
    • Keep your legs closed/narrow
    • Create space or continue to attack
    • Scan for next threat
