Various techniques and advice when face with an attacker or threat on the ground including, chokes, strikes and weapons threats and attacks.

Ground Fighting
  • Ground Bridging

    Episode 1

    • Bring feet up to your bum
    • Keep feet flat and bridge
    • Bridge Diagonally over shoulder towards 2 and 3 or 10 and 11 on a clock face

    NB: Always train safely and within your ability

  • Ground Choke between the Legs

    Episode 2

    • Control hands
    • Create space and turn on your side
    • Using foot press strike attackers leg away at knee
    • Send counter knee into attackers side
    • Once attacker is off balance and falling to side roll away
    • Get to feet and create space
    • Scan for second attacker

  • Front Forward Roll

    Episode 3

    • Extend arms to break the fall
    • Tuck chin into shoulder
    • Curl into small ball rolling over opposite shoulder
    • Create a figure 4 using your legs
    • Continue to your feet

  • Getting Up from the Ground

    Episode 4

    • Get on back and in Ground Fight Stance
    • Evaluate distance to attacker
    • Execute variant 1,2 or 3
    • Scan for next threat

  • Front Soft Breakfall

    Episode 5

    • Extend arms as falling forward
    • Keep body flat
    • Displace impact energy with hand
    • DO NOT LOCK ARMS
    • Get into Ground Fight Stance
    • Get up in appropriate way

  • Ground Full Mounted Front Choke V1

    Episode 6

    • Bring feet up to your bum
    • Pluck and control arm the side you wish to bridge
    • Bridge and press strike with other hand
    • Keep feet flat, then either:
    - Once attacker is off balance and falling to side roll away
    or
    - Continue ontop of attacker and counter before escaping
    • Scan for secon...

  • Full Mounted Defence

    Episode 7

    • Bring feet up to your bum
    • Naturally buck
    • Double hand clasp control stabilising arm pulling into your body
    • Bridge to side of controlling arm - keep feet flat
    • Land ontop of attacker and counter
    • Escape clinch when safe to do so
    • Scan for second attacker
